How Is NetScene Different from macOS Network Locations?
macOS Network Locations mainly save system network locations.
NetScene manages a complete network scene: network settings, app open and close actions, launch confirmation, and quick switching from the menu bar.
If you only need to switch IP or DNS, the system feature may be enough. If you want app handling and launch protection when switching networks, NetScene is a better fit.
Why Might Network Switching Require Administrator Permission?
NetScene uses macOS system network capabilities to modify Wi-Fi, network services, IP, and DNS.
Some network operations are protected by the system and may require administrator confirmation.
Why Does the Global Shortcut Require Accessibility Permission?
macOS requires apps to have Accessibility permission when listening for global shortcuts.
If you do not enable the global shortcut, this permission is usually not required.
Why Did Wi-Fi Not Connect After I Entered an SSID?
Common reasons:
- The SSID spelling is different.
- The device has not saved the Wi-Fi password.
- The Wi-Fi signal is unavailable.
- System network permission or state is abnormal.
Try connecting once from the macOS Wi-Fi menu first, then switch the rule in NetScene again.
Why Did Some Network Adapter Rules Not Work After Import?
Network service names may differ between devices.
For example, the same USB adapter may have different names on different machines or drivers. After importing, check the network service list and select the services again.
Is Force Killing a Process Safe?
It is not recommended by default.
Force killing a process may cause unsaved data loss or abnormal app state. Use it only when the app cannot quit normally and you explicitly accept the risk.
What Does the Config File Store?
The config file stores rules, network service names, IP, DNS, app paths, Launch Guard, and related information.
The local config file is saved by default at:
~/Library/Application Support/NetScene/config.jsonExported JSON files may also contain this information. Share them carefully.
How Do I Check for Updates?
Click "Check for Updates" in the app's General Settings.
