0.4.0 Release Notes

NetScene 0.4.0 focuses on license activation, in-app updates, and dual-architecture installer publishing.

Added

  • Added license activation and deactivation. After Pro activation, the network rule count limit is removed.
  • Added in-app update checking and replacement flow. Update packages are verified with SHA256 before installation.
  • Added a built-in update helper. NetScene reopens automatically after an update completes.
  • Release packages now provide both Apple Silicon and Intel DMGs.
  • Exported configuration no longer includes the local license token, protecting license information when migrating rules.

Improved

  • General Settings now centralizes links to the website, documentation, license purchase, and update checking.
  • The free edition checks rule count when importing configuration to avoid exceeding the current license limit.
  • License state is verified locally while offline. If it expires, does not match the device, or has an invalid signature, NetScene returns to the free edition limit.
  • The packaging flow outputs both DMG and ZIP, making manual installation and in-app updates reuse the same version number.

Changed

  • The free edition is limited to 2 network rules.
  • The Pro edition removes the rule count limit.
  • Public documentation links keep website, docs, and license purchase entries, and no longer show the version API page separately.
