Import and Export
NetScene can export current rules as a JSON file and import rules from a JSON file.
Export Configuration
Export is useful for:
- Backing up rules before changing computers
- Saving a snapshot before adjusting many rules
- Migrating configuration between devices
- Providing a basic rule set to team members
The exported file contains rule names, network settings, app actions, and Launch Guard configuration.
Import Configuration
When importing, NetScene reads rules from the JSON file.
After import, check each rule:
- Whether Wi-Fi SSIDs fit the current device
- Whether network service names exist
- Whether app paths are still valid
- Whether manual IP and DNS values fit the current network
Network service names may differ across macOS devices. For example, the same USB adapter may appear under different names on different machines or drivers.
Free Edition Limit
The free edition keeps at most 2 network rules.
If the imported file contains more rules, NetScene limits the available rule count based on the current license state. Buy and activate the Pro edition if you need more rules.

Config File Safety
Exported JSON files may contain your Wi-Fi names, internal IP addresses, DNS servers, app paths, and other information.
Do not send config files to untrusted people, and do not upload them publicly to uncontrolled locations.
